Five Great Clothing Colours to Enhance Pale Skin

Five Great Clothing Colours to Enhance Pale Skin

Have you ever noticed that some colours make you look a bit washed out whilst others garner you endless compliments? This is because we all have different skin tones, so a colour that suits your friend might not necessarily look so good on you. If you have pale skin, it can be all too easy to end up being dominated by the colour of your clothing; therefore, it is particularly important to choose colours that show you in your best light.

According to the online magazine Live About, understanding whether your skin tone is warm or cool gives you added insight into the most appropriate colours to wear. You don’t need to dig too deep to uncover the most flattering colours that perfectly complement pale skin. With this in mind, here are our top five suggestions for the colours to choose.

1 Black

You might suppose that pale skin precludes you from wearing black; however, it is surprising just how well this colour suits almost every type of skin.

2 Blue

Pale, pastel shades of blue set off pale skin to perfection; in addition, if you have dark hair, you could possibly go for a much brighter option. A floaty blue maxi dress can look absolutely stunning, particularly when paired with accessories in a complementary shade. If you are looking for a blue maxi dress visit AX Paris for examples in every shade imaginable – you are certain to get some inspiration.

3 Pink

Neon pinks can overwhelm a pale complexion, so look for candy-coloured pastel shades that add some warmth to your skin tone; for example, sherbet tones will suit you perfectly. Allow your imagination to run riot with accessories that won’t overpower your overall look.

4 Red

There is a shade of red to suit every skin type – even the palest of skin tones – so experiment to find whether your perfect red is scarlet or a more muted shade. Red throws some colour onto your skin, giving an illusion of warmth. Once you have found your perfect shade, it is time to embrace it.

5 Purple

Purple is a bold colour that suits every shade of skin. It is not a colour for the faint-hearted but you simply can’t go wrong with purple if you like to stand out in a crowd

Which Celebrities Always Get Their Style Right?

Which Celebrities Always Get Their Style Right?

With the awards season well and truly underway and spring finally here, there is no better time to start refreshing your wardrobe. Taking inspiration from some of the world’s most fashionable celebrities is a great place to start, with many showcasing their Hollywood style on the red carpet.

Even the hottest stars don’t always make the grade in the fashion stakes, of course, with the awards season always bringing out some horrors alongside the successes. Here we take a quick look at a few of the best celebrity dresses from the Oscars.

1. Lady Gaga

While her intense performance with Bradley Cooper grabbed the headlines, it was her style that stole the show in our eyes. Channelling the timeless elegance of Audrey Hepburn – the epitome of glamour – the singer/actress wore a simply stunning sculptural black gown by designer Alexander McQueen. It was paired with a 128-carat Tiffany diamond necklace, of which Audrey would have been proud. In typical Lady Gaga style, she gave her look a modern edge with elbow-length black leather gloves.

2. Charlize Theron

Not far behind Lady Gaga in the diamond stakes, the actress wore more than 75 carats of diamonds alongside a collection of Bvlgari jewellery. These highlighted her new dark bobbed hairstyle and a blue backless Dior gown.

3. Constance Wu

Showing that understated elegance is always a style winner, Constance Wu stood out on the red carpet in an off-the-shoulder yellow Atelier Versace dress. She styled her hair in a simple ponytail.

4. Gemma Chan

Letting her dress do all the talking, the fashion-forward Crazy Rich Asians star sported a pink frilly taffeta gown from Valentino. It wasn’t all fancy frills, however, as we spotted just a hint of practicality with those added pockets!

Hailed as the most glamorous night of the year, the Oscars probably tops the list as the place to look for style tips. Stars from all walks of Hollywood shimmer and sparkle in a sea of diamonds and stunning couture gowns. If these celebrity efforts have inspired you to glam up your own wardrobe, take a look at affordable fashion brands such as https://www.axparis.com/collections/celebrity-dresses.

Marie Kondo and the Organisational Plan We All Need

Marie Kondo and the Organisational Plan We All Need

The world seems to have been influenced by the advice of Marie Kondo on how best to organise all of the items that we all have in our homes. The main premise behind her incredibly successful book and now television series is that you should only keep things that spark joy for you. This feeling of joy will be unique to each person and is why you should be responsible for you own items where possible rather than asking others to sort through these for you.

Everything that you own should have its own space and the way that you decide to create this is entirely up to you, but Marie is an advocate of using storage boxes and small cardboard boxes where you can to store items effectively. She has a number of categories of items that you work through including clothing, the garage, paperwork and books, the kitchen and then anything that is sentimental.

When it comes to your clothes, she is very much an advocate of keeping items that make you feel joyful when you wear them rather than having a wardrobe and drawers packed full of items that you never wear. To start the process, you should pick an item that you know makes you happy like the Farah Shirts that you purchased from E J Menswear and then be aware of how you feel when you hold them. It is this feeling you are looking for each time you pick up and item that you wish to keep. When you place items back in drawers and on shelves Marie has a unique way of folding these do that each item can be seen and you don’t have to lift off a pile of other tops before you reach the one that you want. This process is something that can be done with children from a young age and the folding technique makes it easier for them to be able to put away their own clothes and to select what they want to wear each day without creating too much mess.

Paperwork seems to be the bain of most people’s lives and it often gets left in unopened envelopes or stored in files and never looked through again. Marie suggests only keeping those items that are important and cannot be retrieved in an online format and where possible should be stored in an accordion file or standard folder and stored on a shelf that is easily accessible.… Read More..

Why Study at Sheffield Hallam University?

Why Study at Sheffield Hallam University?

As the UK’s 5th largest city, Sheffield is a popular choice of university for both UK and international students.  It has a bustling nightlife with around 70 venues for gigs and many festivals which are enjoyed by the city’s resident student population of 60,000.  Apart from evening entertainment, Sheffield boasts top-class sports facilities as well as a wide range of shopping facilities.  Although it has a reputation as an industrial city (notably for the manufacture of stainless steel), the city is made up of 60% greenery and is within easy access of the beauty of the Peak District.

What student loans are available to study there?

The tuition fees for UK and EU students are £9,250 per year and £13,250 for international students.  UK and EU undergraduates are eligible for a loan from the Student Loan Company, and this money is paid directly to the university on their behalf.

To cover their living costs, they’re also entitled to a separate loan.  The amount they receive depends on their household income, so parents might be expected to make a financial contribution.  The sum they receive as a maintenance loan is a maximum of £8,700 per year (paid in 3 termly instalments).

These loans don’t have to be repaid until the April after they graduate (if they’re employed), but only if they’re earning over the threshold of £25,000 per year.

According to the NatWest student living index (2017), Sheffield is in the top 10 of the cheapest cities to live in the UK.  Despite this, it’s often difficult for undergraduates to make their loan last for the whole term.  For this reason, many undergraduates take on a part-time job to help them supplement their student financing package.  In an emergency, they can also borrow money on demand from Cashfloat direct lender until they receive the next instalment of their student loan.

What support is available from Sheffield Hallam University?

For many university students, the first year at university is often the worse.  Not only are they trying to cope with an unfamiliar environment and get used to how different higher education is to school, but they might be suffering from feelings of homesickness too.  For many students, it’s also the first time that they’ve had to be responsible for managing their own money.  Sometimes when they receive their first loan payment, it might be a temptation to blow it all in one mad spending spree.  For this reason, the Students’ Union Advice Centre is there to offer emotional support and practical advice about everything from future careers to drawing up a budget.

If undergraduates have financial difficulties coping with their student loans, Sheffield Hallam University has a separate £5 million fund which it awards to students in need in the form of additional funding and/or scholarships.  It’s often a good idea for students to find out if they’re eligible for extra funding when they attend an open day at the university and before they make an official application to … Read More..

Why have push presents become popular?

Welcoming a new addition to the family is something to celebrate and a push present is a way to mark this important life event. A push present is also a nice way for a partner to recognise everything the new mother has experienced, from morning sickness and the discomfort of the final trimester to the joys of labour! While they may be primarily associated with celebrities and royalty, the push present is actually becoming an increasingly common way in which a partner can express his or her gratitude to the mother of their new-born child.

What is the best push present for a new mother?

Of course, as with any occasion, the best present to choose depends upon the recipient. Some celebrities might flaunt their flashy new sportscar or £1m+ ‘rock’, but you really don’t have to spend a fortune to find something meaningful and timeless. Jewellery is a good choice, as you can find a piece to suit most budgets and it can provide a wonderful and treasured keepsake that may even become a family heirloom that can be passed on to a daughter or future daughter-in-law.

We all know that diamond engagement rings are a popular choice to mark that special occasion, but diamonds can also be a particularly good choice for a push present. They are classic and something the recipient will cherish. Buying diamond engagement rings online from a reputable retailer can get you a wonderful piece without spending a fortune and, equally, searching for a push present online can lead you to the perfect piece at the right price.

The birth of a child is an exciting time and a very special occasion for the whole family.
